What To Pair With Spring… Pink Bubbles, of course!

Spring has officially sprung- at least in my neck of the woods. The dogwoods are in bloom and the sidewalks are flooded with pink petals- Ahhhhhh (insert opera soprano note here). And drumroll please… the cherry blossoms have finally graced DC’s Tidal Basin. After a long, cold winter all of these blooms and sunshine call for a proper busting out of the pink bubbles and a Cinny Cin Cin!

A perfect match for those elusive cherry blossoms, this one stays in bloom all year long (as long as it’s kept in a darkish place between 45 and 70 degrees). Of what do I speak? Only one of the best wines around and for the price, it’s really kind of insane. Graham Beck’s NV South African Rosé Brut Sparkler made of both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay is light and festive and charmingly complex all at once. It’s drinks like a grin- a happy and fizzy burst of red fruit, chalky earth and wild herbs that knows it’s a little bit too good to be true. Crazy delicious.

Here’s what I get from a whiff and a sip:

We just popped this puppy up on our shelves at Old Town’s Waterfront Market. Get ‘em while they’re hot (or chilled). Waterfront offers a corkage fee option if you want to pick up a bottle at retail price and take it out to the Pier or the Park and celebrate al fresco. And isn’t that what we’ve all been wanting to do for months?!
*Locals, take note: retail priced bottles of great wine +  a small corkage fee = toast-worthy happiness.
Come down and pick one up with some sushi or a sandwich.

If you’re not in my neck of the woods, pick up a bottle (or a case at these prices) here.
